Olive Garden
October 2, 2008Why oh why I ask you do J and I always end up sitting next to weirdos at restaurants (OK now maybe I am judgmental, but I choose not to believe that in this case). So we went out to Olive Garden tonight, which is very rare (we don’t get out much). Now our table was situated with my chair sitting halfway into a doorway. Meaning almost everyone was partially dodging me as I ate. now seeing as I was sitting by a doorway and hence a wall, we didn’t have two tables of people to judge. However, one table was enough. Now let me get this out of the way, I don’t dislike drunk people. I also wouldn’t be super mad if someone choose to get drunk on their birthday, especially if they were a happy drunk. But at the next table there were two sisters and their daughters celebrating, and the mothers were both hammered (extreme work slurring on every word). The birthday mom didn’t even know what was going on anymore. She was confused why she was opening presents about halfway through, and when her niece had to explain what the card said and what the present was it was just kind of sad. So I figure, well they over indulged that’s OK. But the family then orders drunk birthday girl another beer to finish the night off. Ugh. She actually got lost on the way out and then yelled in the lobby, “I’m going to go pee, wait out here for me, I don’t want to get left behind”.
We sat down when our drunk neighbors were getting their leftovers boxed up and we managed to eat our whole dinner and pay the bill and ended up leaving at the same time as drunk b-day girl. We have our own issues. We managed to eat super fast. Why would we do this on one of our rare nights out. We had to get home to watch New Adventures of Old Christine, J’s favorite show (she is actually quite a lot like Old Christine) when we forgot to program the DVR. I also really didn’t like my meal. It is now barely 9 pm, J is asleep and ready to go to bed myself, married life huh.

so, my one and only thought is who drove these dumb-asses home? oh that and yes we seem to be destined to sit, stand, be in the general vicinity of weirdos!
